Most of the settings were the automatically generated by the camera in program mode with the exception of one. The (TV) Time Value picture. The Shutter was set to 1/1600 but, all other settings were auto. Although I did work some magic in Aperture 3 with each picture, I must say this is one nice point and shoot camera. By the way, the pictures here are high resolution and work well as desktop backgrounds.

“Why do my prints look different from my computer screen?”
“After I’m done editing my pictures on my computer, my prints always turn out too dark!”

Display Calibration Assistant

Screen or Display Calibration is often over-looked when we use our computers to edit pictures. What looks great in iPhoto or Aperture doesn’t always mean your prints will be as good looking. This is because most of us never take the time to calibrate our monitors or screens. In fairness, the bright, rich colors you get by the default setting do look good, but they’re not realistic when it comes to using those setting to edit digital photography. In OSX, an often over-looked tool to correct this is found in System Preferences-Display-Color. From here you can select the calibrate button and follow the the step-by-step instructions to calibrate your screen. Use Expert mode for more control and finer tuned calibration. Note: Follow all instructions and don’t look directly at the apple logo when setting the calibration sliders, use only your peripheral vision. You’ll know what I mean when you start the calibration. Also make sure you set your ambient light in the room to something functional ( i.e. comfortable to work in like lamps and windows ) before you start.

For more information and additional resources on display calibration check out www.imaging-resource.com and www.lunnfabrics.com

Like with iPhoto 9 and earlier, one of the easiest ways to remove unwanted Metadata from your JEPG’s was to use the mail feature within iPhoto. The trick was to make sure that “actual size” was selected and simply drag the picture to the desktop after Mail prepared it. You could then close the Mail window leaving the picture you want (minus the metadata) on your desktop. See my “How to remove JPEG metadata in apple osx” post for more. However, with iPhoto 11 by default the pictures you select to mail are now mailed from iPhoto 11 itself and not Mail. To fix this so the above trick still works, you’ll need to go into iPhoto 11′s preferences and under General, change the email photos option to Mail. From here you’ll select the pictures you’d like to have the metadata removed from and click the Share icon to open mail. Now you’re all set to drag and drop from Mail onto the desktop or wherever with pictures clear of metadata. Just make sure “actual size” is selected in Mail or you may be resizing your pictures unintentionally.

What he’s done is load a MP3 player with a 19k tone ( witch is basically inaudible ) and has it run the length of the video. The mixer is used to mix evenly one of the Left or right stereo channels with the other being his lapel mic. Scene the camera’s AGC will be the only one that can hear the 19k tone the other channel sound nice and clean as the camera adjusts the Automatic Gain Control to a set level. Nice.

At least where Im at. Hopefully the clouds will move on soon. I’ll post more as the morning goes on.

2:24am Looks like tonight is a bust, to many clouds. At least there’s another in 2014 but unfortunately the next Lunar Eclipse at Winter Solstice is another 84 years out. Congratulations to anyone who got photo’s of the Eclipse tonight.
