Remove Metadata in Photoshop CS4

Here’s a quick tip for removing metadata in Photoshop. When you get your image ready for export click on File in the top menu and select Save for Web & Devices…. From here a new dialog box will open giving you options on the type of file you’d like to export, quality settings, color profile and yes, a metadata removal option. Galveston Trip Spring 2010

All Pictures in this post were taken with a Canon 40D using the Canon 10-22 EF lens. The Bishop’s Palace HDR was taken with three exposures at EV 2,0,-2 and tone mapped with Photomatix. The clouds were layered in from another picture I took. The Palace also needed some lens correction to compensate for the angle the original picture was taken at. Using the Export feature In Aperture 3 To Remove Metadata

If you’re using Aperture 3 and would like to remove metadata from your images you’ll need to change your Export settings. To do this, use the export tab in the preference window. Under Aperture in the top menu bar select preferences. Then click on the Export tab. Where it lists “Email Photo Export presets” you will find a drop down menu. At the bottom of that menu you’ll select “edit”. From here a new dialog box will open with your Image Export settings. Choose the type of file format and settings you wish to Export with but make sure the “Include Metadata” box is un-cheched. Enter GPS Coordinates Into iPhoto ’09

This is a work around for importing GPS and waypoint data so you can geo-tag your photos. Many cameras still do not have standard, a GPS feature that allows you to record the latitude and longitude coordinates along side the rest of the metadata in-camera. However, you can use software like Places in iPhoto ’09 to input this information in a nice, clean, some what straight forward interface. For example, in iPhoto 09 when you hover the mouse over any picture or event you may notice a small “i” in the lower right corner of the image. This is where you can enter title, description and location information. This month Canon will release the new Power Shot SX210 IS replacing the SX200. The 210 places itself just under the very popular SX1 and SX20 Giving you many of the same powerful features but in a smaller more convenient size. However, this camera, unlike the others in the SX line up, will not only be a bit smaller but it will use it’s own rechargeable battery, freeing you up from AA’s.
